What is an HVAC Split System? An HVAC split system is for homes that have space for large indoor cabinets. The split system model holds the condenser and compressor in an outdoor cabinet. Another indoor cabinet will hold the evaporator coil, and an air handler sends the cool air through the duct system.
Heat pumps offer an energy-efficient alternative to furnaces and air conditioners for all climates. Like your refrigerator, heat pumps use electricity to transfer heat from a cool space to a warm space, making the cool space cooler and the warm space warmer.
Mini-splits are heating and cooling systems that allow you to control the temperatures in individual rooms or spaces. Mini-split systems have two main components -- an outdoor compressor/condenser and an indoor air-handling unit(s) (evaporator).
Commercial HVAC refers to anything involved with heating and cooling large properties, such as business buildings, restaurants, rental properties, hospitals, schools, and more. Because of the scale, commercial HVAC heavily differs from its residential counterpart in terms of size, capacity, and operational complexity.
A furnace heats the air that is circulated by your home's Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system. A thermostat has a direct link to a furnace so that changes in the thermostat will immediately trigger a furnace to turn on or off.
An HVAC system includes some type of equipment -- such as furnace, boiler or heat pump -- for generating heat that is used to warm an internal space. The equipment might target a room, zone or entire building.
